My name is Jacqueline Frasca, previously VeganSkinnyBitch from Tumblr. I am the biggest condiment whore you will absolutely ever meet. I recently graduated from Emerson College in Boston with a B.A. in Writing, Literature, and Publishing with a minor in Photography. I currently am the Associate Editor for New South Publishing and work at Teavana.
I love Boston more than anything and since moving to Atlanta I miss it more than ever. I have to say, though, I’m having a lot of fun down here and the vegan community is inspiring.
I’ve been vegan since early April 2010, and for me going vegan was not an option. I was a vegetarian for about 4-5 years beforehand and I never really knew the full extent of what I was still contributing to. Once I did, it was not negotiable — I was an overnight convert to veganism. The vegan lifestyle is devoid of murder, cruelty, speciesism, and contribution to the rape the dairy industry exists from, and I’ll never go back from it.
I started my Tumblr blog in January of 2011, and it is still actively updated with tips on healthy eating, exercise, active lifestyles, and of course all things vegan. There I answer asks daily from my 5,500+ readers who are looking for advice on dealing with non-vegans, coexisting, healthy eating, meal plans, and avoiding cruelty in their lives. Originally my title was Vegan Skinny Bitch, but I felt after some time that the title wasn’t really fitting of who I am or what I wanted to acheive with the blog. My blog is meant to be a resource, because I know when I first made the switch I didn’t know nearly as much as I should have about vegan nutrition and how to deal with non-vegans peacefully; after all, when you’re passionate about something it’s natural to want to spread it around to those you care about. Vegpocalypse Now feels more fitting to me, and it stands for inflicting change in the world — inciting the cataclysm of animal abuse and speciesism through healthful, compassionate living.
I’m here to prove that being vegan is not only delicious [and easy], but also the healthiest way to live and achieve a healthy weight. I do not support the ALF or PETA, let’s just get that out of the way now. I will be updating with pictures of my progress as well as easy recipes [college student easy]. Feel free to ask any questions you’d like!
